International Mother Language Day 2023

On the solemn occasion of 21st February, the Bangladesh Association of Varese proudly organized a heartfelt event in honor of International Mother Language Day 2023 — a day that commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made for the right to speak one’s mother tongue.

This event was not only a tribute to the Language Martyrs of 1952, but also a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving our linguistic and cultural identity, especially for the Bangladeshi diaspora living abroad. 🇧🇩

🎤 The program included:

• Respectful homage to the martyrs with flower offerings
• Cultural performances by children and youth
• Poetry recitations and speeches on the significance of the day
• Discussions on the value of language, heritage, and community unity
• Multilingual showcases to promote global understanding and respect

Through this event, the association fostered a deeper connection between generations, helping younger Bangladeshi-Italians understand the history of 21st February and the pride of their mother language, Bangla.

🤝 The gathering also served as a bridge between different communities, reinforcing the values of peace, unity, and multicultural harmony — all in the true spirit of International Mother Language Day, as recognized by UNESCO.
